Hooray for Summer!

8th Grade Yearbook AssignmentAll students St. Stanislaus Kostka School should be practicing skills learned during the school year.  This includes the summer months.

In light of this fact, below are the Summer Skills work for both the 7th and 8th grades.  If you are looking for your Math work, check out Mrs. Mangone’s blog at cmangone8.wordpress.com

A Science Overview

Each grade will work on 4 units in Science this year.  (Please see below for units.)  Each unit will last approximately 7 – 8 weeks.  Tests, quizzes  and labs will be given within each unit.

The upper grade program has been designed so that at the end of the 4 years (5-8 grade), students will have been exposed to every topic found on the NYS Grade 8 Science Assessment test, and will have learned to use each tool on the NYS Grade 8 Science Performance test.

A reminder:

Tests and quizzes should be signed by a parent and turned in the next day that you come to Science.  If they are not, 2 points will be deducted from the grade for each late day.

Graded labs do not need to be signed by a parent unless they are stamped with a “PLEASE SIGN AND RETURN” stamp.

Units for each grade are listed below:

Unit 1 – Geology

Unit 2 – Matter & Energy

Unit 3 – The Human Animal

Unit 4 – Homeostasis

Unit 1 – Forces & Motion on Earth

Unit 2 – Earth/Sun/Moon System

Unit 3 – Reproduction, Heredity & Evolution

Unit 4 – Humans in their Environment
